Can Yaskawa drives and PLCs be retrofitted to an existing machine?

Yes, retrofit is one of the main reasons this equipment is specified. A typical case is an obsolete drive or controller with no direct replacement, or a machine whose control platform is no longer supported while the mechanics are still sound. OTES starts from the existing electrical drawings and the actual load, selects the AC drive and, where required, the PLC, HMI and I/O to match the machine's function, and defines the wiring and cabinet changes. GA500 and GA700 Series drives are commonly used in place of older units, and SLIO reduces the space needed when a cabinet is already full. Programming, parameter setting, commissioning and operator training are carried out by OTES, so the machine returns to production with a documented configuration.

How do I choose between SLIO and 300S+ controllers?

The decision is about I/O architecture and required processing rather than brand preference. SLIO is a modular compact I/O system, used where field signals are distributed around a machine or a line and where cabinet space and wiring have to be reduced, with the modules placed close to the sensors and actuators. The 300S+ controllers are SPEED7 based and suit applications that need higher instruction throughput in the controller itself, for example larger programs, shorter scan times or more demanding coordination between axes. Many installations use both, with the controller in the main panel and SLIO stations in the field. OTES reviews the I/O list, the cycle requirements and the existing network before recommending a configuration.

What service and spare part support is available after installation?

OTES provides technical service across Türkiye for the products it supplies, and support covers older Yaskawa drive families still in production use, not only current models such as the GA500 and GA700 Series. In practice, support has three parts. Spare and replacement units keep an installed base running, which matters where a single drive failure stops a line. Parameter and program records taken during commissioning allow a replacement unit to be configured to the same state as the failed one. Maintenance training given at handover lets the plant's own team deal with routine faults, alarms and drive replacement without waiting for a visit. Scope and response are agreed for each installation rather than assumed.

Do you provide PLC and HMI programming, or only supply the hardware?

Both are possible. OTES works as a Yaskawa distributor and as a system integrator, so a customer can buy the drives, PLC, HMI or Panel PC on their own and use an in house engineering team, or hand over the complete application. Where OTES does the engineering, the scope covers drive and motor sizing, panel design, PLC and HMI programming, integration with existing machines and higher level systems, commissioning with parameter setting and tuning on the real load, and operator and maintenance training. Documentation of the program and the parameter set is part of the handover, since a maintainable configuration determines how the installation behaves over the following years.
